Kunle Fasasi is a film writer-director based in Los Angeles. He obtained his MFA in Film & TV Directing from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to that, he completed a Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in French and Francophone Studies from the University of Florida. His works, typically character-driven, reside primarily within the genres of drama, epics and historical biopics, often centering on themes such as faith and providence, agency, memory, and the relative powerlessness of man.

Kunle is naturally curious about the human psyche as well as the collection of experiences and traditions that shape personal—and by extension, societal—views and ideologies. Having been strongly influenced by French and francophone literature, he is equally drawn to stories that bear strands of social and poetic realism. Through photography, Kunle seeks to tell cultural and personal stories, preserve heritage, as well as perpetuate memories through the unique power of still images.

His short film, The Professional, screened at the 14th edition of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). He is a recipient of the much-coveted NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. During his stint at UCLA, Kunle had the privilege of honing his craft by learning directly under the likes of filmmakers Juan Pablo Gonzalez (Guggenheim fellow), Bill McDonald, Mark Rosman and Alex O’Flinn, to name a few.
